Filoni’s cherry-picking method for choosing Star Wars lore has resulted in a muddied series that serves neither die-hards nor casual fans. Are we in a Star Wars dark age?
Grand Admiral Thrawn isn’t the villain we deserved, he’s the villain we needed. Star Wars: Ahsoka keeps on a steady upward trend. The main complaint here is the criminal misuse of Wes Chatham. It’s not perfect, there are some odd character choices, but everyone’s still excited for the next episode.
Much to the surprise of Jim and A.Ron, Grand Admiral Thrawn appears! A Star Wars show isn’t making us wait multiple seasons to see the character they’ve been teasing??!? This episode dives deeper into Filoni-created Star Wars lore (Wookiepedia has been a helpful source). What is Baylan’s ultimate goal? How do the Witches fit into the future? With only two episodes left, does Filoni have a satisfying conclusion for us?
This episode makes the Star Wars canon better. We get to see more of Ahsoka’s backstory and her trials as a young Padawan. As you probably know, Anakin was made for a problematic Jedi Master. See how that dynamic influences Ahsoka in the present time in a showdown that brings Star Wars back to form.
At the midpoint of the season, Ahsoka has finally hooked Jim and A.Ron. Sabine can’t be trusted and we all seem to know it except for Ahsoka. Once again commissioner Fernando Rodriguez (you may better know him as FernNYC17 on our forums) steps up with a choice selection, this time the oft maligned Return of the Jedi. Often dismissed as derivative or childish when compared to A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back respectively, we have nothing but love for the climax of the story of Skywalker. It’s got the best space battle, the best lightsabre battle, and the best puppets in all of Star Wars. The Special Edition changes? Not so much love.
