Bald Move Pulp - Harlots – 307

Harlots continues it’s back-half swoon as things continue to not make much sense, and we’re left with too few characters we genuinely care about. Sure, Lady Fitz’s impulsive kiss of Nancy was exciting, but there are two many things happening because of happenstance, chance encounters, and nothing really feels like it has consequences. There is one…

Dungeons and Demogorgons - 307 – Chapter Seven: The Bite

We resume our mini-marathon of Netflix’s Stranger Things 3 with the penultimate episode, “The Bite”. In which many people are forced to confront their true feelings for other characters, with mixed results. The Mind Flayer is running roughshod over the backwoods of Hawkins, while the thus un-merged Billy stalks down El to eliminate her as threat. The big question in our minds is whether the Duffer Brothers took the long off season to come up with a new way to resolve inter-dimensional threats, or are we in for another screaming session from El? Let’s find out together!

The World We Deserve - 307 – The Final Country

Jim and A.Ron feel like the picture is coming into focus for this season’s True Detective, and yet in “The Final Country” the show carries itself as if it has a few surprises left up it’s sleeves. Many questions remain; why exactly was Julie taken, and how did she escape? What goes down between the two hunters, Hayes and Hoyt? What will the two old men learn in 2015 that eluded them in the 80s and 90s? We’re counting on next week coming through and capping off a great season with a great finale. See you then!

HOTD: A House of the Dragon Podcast - 307 – The Bear and the Maiden Fair

On this week’s episode of our summer Game of Thrones rewatch, “The Bear and the Maiden Fair”, Brienne picks on someone her own size, Joffery tries talking politics with his grandpa, Robb YOLOs his way through a fraught political position to buy some extra time to consort with his queen, and Sansa and Tyrion lament their respective fates. For feedback we discuss the relative intelligence of wights, debate the apparent height of the Wall, and consider people’s pet theories on what things will look like post series-finale of Thrones. See you back here next week!

Beltalowda - A podcast for The Expanse - 307 – Delta-V

SyFy’s The Expanse experiences some time dilation as we leap ahead and then try to catch up with what’s happened in the appropriately named “Delta-V”.  We discuss the leadership crisis looming aboard the Behemoth, the documentary crew’s agenda with the Roci, try to sleuth out the loyalties of a deadly new saboteur, and look for clues about the nature of Bobby and Alex’s long distance relationship.  All this, some #SaveTheExpanse talk, and feedback from your fellow fans!

2-Bit Encryption - A Mr. Robot Podcast - 307 – eps3.6_fredrick+tanya.chk

Jim and A.Ron agree that this latest episode of USA Network’s Mr. Robot, “Eps3.6fredrick&tanya.chk”, was pretty good, but on little else beyond that.  We are in violent disagreement over the direction of Angela and Tyrell, but that just makes for an exciting podcast where naked hostility seems to be lying in wait around every corner.  But whether or not you think Tyrell is an actual human or if Angela is a horrifying baby person suddenly, there is a lot to talk about and discuss.  White Rose dunks on Phillip, Leon blazes up to Knight Rider,  Irving tells Mr. Robot how it is, beautifully filmed desert vistas that would bring a tear to even Vince Gilligan’s eye, and we get closure on Trenton and Mobley.  All great stuff, and it puts the show in fine shape as it heads into the seasons final act.  See you next week!

Fargo - 307 – The Law of Inevitability

FX’s Fargo continues to pick up steam as it heads into the final stretch, with “The Law of Inevitability” dealing with the aftermath of Emmitt’s loss (he doesn’t acquit himself well), Sy coming to grips with the destruction of his world, and Gloria getting sick and tired of people not being clear on the definition of law enforcement around these parts. And that doesn’t even get into the big finish with the return of a familiar face! We also briefly discuss the future of Fargo on FX in the feedback section, don’t miss it!

Following The Leftovers - 307 – The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)

We are incredibly pleased with the penultimate episode of HBO’s The Leftovers, “The Most Powerful Man in the World (and His Identical Twin Brother)”. It is true that this episode is ridiculous, and dumb, and it doesn’t make any sense, and we shouldn’t care so much about, much like the reaction of Kevin himself. But we can’t help it. Everything they were selling we were buying, and in bulk. Dick jokes. Sure. Body swapping between twin Kevins? Why not? Surprise guest stars as Secretary of Defense and the Vice President? Shut up and take my money! It’s crazy how this show can do no wrong with us, but we suspect it’s because this show can’t help but be true to their characters and find an emotional truth at the core of it that manages to surprise and delight us. Can’t wait for the finale next week! See you there…
